Geshe Tenzin Zopa

gtzpixGeshe Tenzin Zopa holds the honoured Geshe (Doctorate) degree from Sera Jey Monastic University, South India. He was born in the remote Himalayan region of Tsum valley in Nepal and was ordained at the age of 9 in Kopan Monastery by the late Great Mahasiddha Geshe Lama Konchog.

Geshela possesses vast scriptural knowledge, holds many rare transmissions and initiations lineages, has completed many retreats, extensive teaching experience and is skilled in rituals and astrology. Geshela has also undertaken many meaningful projects for many years.

Since 2000 he has been actively teaching in FPMT centers as a visiting and resident teacher. Currently, he is serving as a touring teacher for the FPMT centers.

Arrival in Singapore

This time allows you to familiarize yourself with the vibrant city at your own pace before embarking on your scheduled sightseeing adventures.

Day 2

1-Singapore-Tooth Relic Temple Buddha Tooth Relic Temple, Museum & surroundings (B)

After enjoying breakfast, embark on a visit to the renowned Buddha Tooth Relic Temple & Museum located in Chinatown, a revered Buddhist site in Singapore. Delight in the beauty of the main prayer hall, where an awe-inspiring golden Buddha statue and stunning Tang-style architecture await your exploration. Don’t forget to ascend to the fourth floor to see the Sacred Relic Chamber, believed to hold Lord Buddha’s left canine tooth. The museum part of the temple offers a rich showcase of Buddhist culture, art, and scriptures spanning centuries. Be sure to take a moment in the Rooftop Garden, where a grand prayer wheel and stupa provide a peaceful space for meditation. For lunch, explore the vegetarian-friendly dining options in Chinatown.

In the afternoon we visit the Amitabha Buddhist Centre in Geylang.

As the day winds down, enjoy a gentle walk along Marina Bay, taking in the stunning views of Marina Bay Sands and the Singapore skyline before heading back to your hotel.

 Sakya Muni Buddha Gaya Temple & Burmese Buddhist Temple (B)

Start your day with a visit to the Sakya Muni Buddha Gaya Temple in Little India, also known as the “Temple of 1,000 Lights.” The highlight here is the 15-meter-tall seated Buddha statue surrounded by countless lamps, creating a tranquil atmosphere for meditation. Explore the frescoes depicting Buddha’s life journey and pay respects at smaller shrines within the complex.

After lunch in Little India, proceed to the Burmese Buddhist Temple, Singapore’s oldest Theravada Buddhist temple. Here, admire the magnificent 3 metre white marble Buddha statue, imported from Myanmar, and learn about Theravada traditions. The temple’s calm environment makes it an ideal place for prayer, chanting, or simply absorbing the peaceful energy.

Conclude your pilgrimage with a moment of reflection. You may also shop for spiritual books, beads, or incense in the nearby cultural districts before returning to the hotel.

 Batam – Pekanbaru (B)

After breakfast, the group will proceed to the Harbour Front Centre ferry terminal for a fast ferry ride to Batam Centre. This scenic journey will be followed by a domestic flight to Pekanbaru, located in Riau Province. Upon arrival in Pekanbaru, you will be greeted by our local guide and transferred to the hotel for check-in, allowing time to unwind and rest.

2-Pekanbaru-Candi-Muara-Takus Pekanbaru – Muara Takus – Pekanbaru (B, L/ D)

Breakfast will be enjoyed at the hotel this morning. The group is set for a full-day excursion to Candi Muara Takus, one of Sumatra’s oldest Buddhist temple complexes, which dates back to the 11th century. Upon arrival, participants will have the opportunity to explore the temple site, which features a collection of ancient stupas and shrines, and gain insight into its historical significance in the spread of Buddhism throughout Sumatra. A packed or local lunch will be provided during the excursion. After the visit, the group will return to Pekanbaru for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 6

4 August 2026

 Pekanbaru – Jambi (B, L/D)

After enjoying breakfast, you’ll embark on an overland journey to Jambi by bus. The trip includes several rest stops for lunch, refreshments, and a chance to stretch your legs. As you travel, you’ll pass through the picturesque rural landscapes of Sumatra, taking in the charming villages and plantations that offer a glimpse into local life. You can expect to arrive in Jambi in the late afternoon or evening. Upon arrival, you’ll transfer directly to the hotel for check-in and dinner.

3-Jambi-Muaro Jambi Temple Jambi: Muara Jambi temple & Padmasana (B, L/D)

An early start awaits us today as we head to the Muara Jambi Temple Complex, the largest Buddhist archaeological site in Sumatra and a crucial centre of Buddhist learning from the 7th to the 13th century. Our morning exploration will take us through several restored temples, mounds, and canals that showcase the illustrious history of this once-thriving Buddhist university complex. After our visit, we’ll return to the hotel for breakfast and a chance to rest. In the afternoon, we will visit Padmasana, a significant Buddhist monument within the Muara Jambi complex (or in Jambi city, depending on ongoing preservation efforts). This will be an opportunity for meditation, prayers, or teachings, as arranged by Geshe Zopa.

 Jambi: Muara Jambi temple – teaching / discussion (B, L/D)

Another early morning excursion awaits to the Muara Jambi Temple Complex, providing the group an opportunity to immerse themselves in the tranquil morning ambiance—perfect for meditation, reflection, or on-site teachings. Afterward, we will return to the hotel late in the morning for breakfast and some free time. Lunch options include the hotel or a local restaurant. The afternoon is reserved teachings and discussion sessions at the hotel by Geshe Zopa.

7 August 2026

 Jambi – Yogyakarta – Magelang – Teaching / Free time (B)

Early morning flight to Yogyakarta. Upon our arrival at Yogyakarta airport from Jambi, our group will be warmly greeted by a local guide who will assist with the transfers. We will then proceed to Borobudur in Magelang, where the guide will accompany us to the hotel for check-in and a chance to rest. In the afternoon or evening, guests will have free time to unwind or may choose to participate in an optional teaching and discussion session arranged independently.

3-Borobudur Visit Borobudur – Free Time (B, L)

Pick up at the hotel. The guide will accompany the group as they depart for Borobudur to do a Pilgrim tour and pray. After finishing to visit Borobudur, the group will enjoy lunch at Manohara hotel. The afternoon is free for teachings and/or personal reflection time.

 Early visit Borobudur – Lunch at Manohara – Free time (B, L)

The day begins with a very early morning guided visit to the magnificent Borobudur Temple, allowing the group to do a pilgrimage and pray up to the monument in the morning. Afterward, lunch will be served at the Manohara Hotel located nearby. The afternoon and evening are free for rest or informal group discussions.

 Visit Mendut & Vihara – Afternoon teaching /free time (B, L)

The guide will lead the group to visit Mendut Temple and Vihara Mendut in the morning, both significant spiritual sites rich in history and culture. Lunch will be provided at a local restaurant. The afternoon is free and can be used for teachings, group discussions, or personal reflection. (Own Arrangement)

 5-Prambanan – Candi Kalasan & SewuEarly visit Prambanan – Candi Kalasan & Sewu – Late lunch (B, L)

Pick at the hotel and check out early in the morning. Early morning departure with the guide for a visit to the Prambanan Temple complex, including Candi Kalasan and Candi Sewu, marveling at their architectural grandeur and spiritual significance. After a late lunch at the hotel or a similar venue at a local restaurant, check in at the hotel in Yogyakarta and the afternoon is free for rest.

 6-Candi Ratu Boko & IjoVisit Candi Ratu Boko & Ijo – Lunch at Abhyagiri (B, L)

The guide will accompany the group for a very early departure to visit Ratu Boko Temple and Ijo Temple, both sites offering stunning views and rich historical context. Lunch will be provided at Abhayagiri Venue Restaurant nearby. Following the visit, the group will return to Yogyakarta to relax.

The day will be reserved for leisure activities, allowing everyone to unwind. In the evening, we will come together for a special farewell dinner at the hotel to commemorate our journey.

On the final day, pilgrims will prepare for your departure. The guide will assist with transfers to airports or other onward destinations, marking the conclusion of this meaningful spiritual pilgrimage.
